Mono County Fish & Wildlife Programs
Mono County is committed to supporting healthy fish and wildlife populations, maintaining recreational opportunities, and protecting local ecosystems. While our former Fish & Wildlife Commission is no longer active, Mono County Economic Development still manages local fish and wildlife programs, including fish stocking efforts, the Fish and Game Fine Fund, and invasive species awareness initiatives. This page provides up-to-date information, downloadable materials, and resources for businesses, residents, and visitors.
Fish and Game Fine Fund
The Fish and Game Fine Fund is a locally managed account funded through penalties collected for fish and wildlife regulation violations. Mono County uses these funds for projects that support:
- Fish and wildlife conservation
- Habitat restoration
- Public education and outreach

Invasive Species Awareness: Golden Mussel
Golden mussels are a serious threat to Mono County waterways. These invasive mussels can damage infrastructure, harm ecosystems, and impact water quality. Prevention starts with awareness.
What You Can Do:
- Clean, drain, and dry boats and equipment before entering or leaving any waterbody
- Share information with visitors, employees, and community members
- Post awareness materials at your business, on your website and social media, with lodging reservations, etc.
