Here is the latest update on the Eagle Two Fire near Bridgeport from the U.S Forest Service - Humboldt-Toiyabe. - Jennifer M. Hansen, Public Information Officer

NO GROWTH FROM LIGHTNING-CAUSED EAGLE TWO FIRE

Bridgeport, California; Aug. 16, 2015 (3 p.m.) – Interagency fire crews continue to work to contain a fire burning on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest just west of Bridgeport, California. The cause of the fire was from lightning that occurred at an earlier date and had been smoldering. It is currently burning in timber and remains at 150 acres and is 30% contained.

The Buckeye Campground and Buckeye Campground road remains closed at this time due to heavy fire traffic. Additional closures include portions of the Eagle Creek and Buckeye trails. These areas are closed until further notice.

As of 3 p.m., resources assigned to the fire include one air attack, three helicopters, one engine, four handcrews and various overhead. The Mizer Great Basin Type III Incident Management Team is still in command of the fire. For additional information on the Eagle Two Fire, visit:

The chance of wildfires occurring has increased due to the recent warm temperatures and long term drought conditions. Forest officials encourage the public to be extremely cautious with activities that could potentially cause a wildfire.
