Internal Condoms
Internal condoms (sometimes called female condoms) are a barrier method that helps prevent pregnancy and reduce the risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs). They are worn inside the vagina before sex.
Why Use an Internal Condom?
- Helps prevent pregnancy.
- Reduces the risk of STIs, including HIV.
- Can be inserted up to 8 hours before sex.
- Does not require a prescription.
How to Use
- Insert the closed end of the condom into the vagina before sex.
- The outer ring should remain outside the vaginal opening.
- Guide the penis into the condom during sex.
- Twist the outer ring and gently remove the condom after sex.
- Throw the condom away in the trash. Do not flush it.
Important Reminders
- Use a new internal condom every time you have sex.
- Do not use an internal condom and an external condom at the same time, as friction can cause them to tear or slip.
- Check the expiration date and do not use damaged packaging.
- Internal condoms can be used with both water-based and oil-based lubricants.
