The Mono County Department of Social Services offers a variety of services to individuals and families through several Federal, State, and County programs. The CalWORKS program assists needy families with a monthly cash grant, along with Medi-Cal and/or Food Stamps. Parents who are receiving CalWORKS may also be required to participate in the Welfare to Work program. Individuals or families may also apply for the Food Stamp and Medi-Cal programs separately to meet their needs. Our Department offers the County Medical Services Program (CMSP) to qualified individuals and General Assistance. In Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is designed to provide care-giving services to persons 65 years and older or persons with disabilities who may be at risk of out-of-home placement. All applicants for the above programs must meet specific eligibility requirements as set forth by Federal, State, and County regulations. Our Department also provides Child Protective Services and Adult Protective Services. You may call our 24 hour Hotline to report suspected child or adult abuse at 1-800-340-5411 or 760-932-7755. Foster Parenting is a vital need in our community. Call 760-924-1700 if you are interested in becoming a foster parent in Mono County. Our normal office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Spanish-speaking staff are available. Mono County Social Services is the responsible agency for providing emergency shelters for residents and visitors in the event of a disaster.
