“Our mission is to serve, aid, and protect needy and vulnerable children and adults residing in Mono County in ways that strengthen and preserve families, encourage personal responsibility, and foster independence.”

The Mono County Department of Social Services offers a variety of services to individuals and families through several Federal, State, and County programs.

The CalWORKS program assists needy families with a monthly cash grant, along with Medi-Cal and/or Food Stamps.  Parents who are receiving CalWORKS may also be required to participate in the Welfare to Work program.

Individuals or families may also apply for the Food Stamp and Medi-Cal programs separately to meet their needs.  Our Department offers the County Medical Services Program (CMSP) to qualified individuals and General Assistance.

In Home Supportive Services (IHSS) is designed to provide care-giving services to persons 65 years and older or persons with disabilities who may be at risk of out-of-home placement.

All applicants for the above programs must meet specific eligibility requirements as set forth by Federal, State, and County regulations.
