COUNTY ROAD MAINTENANCE

One of the many responsibilities of Public Works, including one of the most important, is the maintenance of all County Roads.  The Department of Public Works Road Operations are responsible for 684.44 miles of county roadway.  Of the 684.42 miles 180.82 miles are paved and 503.62 are unpaved roads.  The County's land area has been divided into five "road districts" which employ 3-6 employees.  These employees maintain county roads by doing minor repairs and snow removal during the winter months.
