Dog Licensing Requirements

Health and Safety Code 1920 (b), Mono County Code 9.20.010 - All dogs over the age of 4 months shall be vaccinated for rabies at the State of California prescribed intervals. This includes all yard, lap, house, cattle/ranch, and commercially kenneled dogs.
Health and Safety Code 1920 (a), Mono County Code 9.12.060 - All dogs over the age of four (4) months shall have and wear a current Mono County Dog License.
Title 17 - CA. Code of Regulations 2606.04 - All dogs under the age of four months shall be confined to the premises of, or kept under physical restraint by the owner. all dogs reaching the age of four months will be vaccinated for rabies and licensed.

| License Fees: | $20.00 (intact dogs) $10.00 (spayed or neutered) with sterilization proof * |
| Duplicate Licenses: | $5.00 |
| Late Fees: | $20.00 charged in addition to license applications received after June 30th of each year. |
| If a county dog license expires and in future years the owner licenses the same dog, the owner may be charged for each license year that they were delinquent. The fee will also include late fees for each delinquent year. | |
To license a dog, proof will be needed of a current rabies vaccination. If a three year vaccination expires before June of the next licensing period a dog owner must re-vaccinate the dog. |

This is only for dogs new to the system or that have been altered between licensing periods. If your dog is sterilized you may provide proof of the procedure with a signed and dated certificate from your veterinarian, a rabies certificate stating that the animal has been altered or a bill stating the surgery, the date, and identifications of the appropriate animal.
