About Us

The Planning Division serves as a clearinghouse to facilitate information dissemination and contact with agencies, organizations and departments involved in the planning process and the development and environmental review function. We emphasize community-based planning and strive to educate the public on local planning matters and to promote and solicit public input on planning policies of interest to local residents and property owners. We accomplish this through forming RPACs and task groups, conducting surveys and samples, cooperating with local media, and conducting public hearings before the Planning Commission and Board of Supervisors.

The Planning Division strives to provide the highest quality planning services. Our division processes permit applications as quickly as reasonably possible without compromising the public interest or the quality of planning services. We strive to maintain continuity between the two planning offices (Mammoth Lakes and Bridgeport), and our planning team coordinates to ensure consistency in code and plan applications, and to ensure that consistent information is provided to the public. The Planning Division coordinates with other departments, community groups, organizations and agencies, and strives to be sensitive to their orientations, purposes and approaches. We strive to form partnerships for resolving planning issues.

The Community Development Department offers a wide array of online resources. Simply visit our Online Services page and explore the many options.
